One of the projects I recall most fondly, I was approached to develop a series of labels for Britannia Brewing Co. with little direction beyond the names given to each brew. Unique identifiers were developed for each by way of graphic wordmarks, which were then accompanied by dynamic illustrations, personifying the product through characters and including references to constituent flavour notes.

Each design was adapted for multiple form-factors, and are still in print more than 5 years later despite a complete re-design for the labeling of their other products.

Named for famed civil engineer, Harland Bartholomew, this upscale Vancouver cocktail bar contacted me to help them establish a brand identity inspired by both their offerings as well as their namesake, with the specific vision of realizing the logo in neon-signage.

The wordmark was developed in conjunction with the primary sigil to evoke the form of conjoined roadways and the infamous cloverleaf interchange (designed by Bartholomew himself), in addition to the more obvious visual elements of cheersing goblets and hanging grapes.

In addition to the core brand elements, I also developed a fully-fledged character set from the wordmark for use on brand extensions in perpetuity.

As an emerging electronic music label, I worked together with Dis Tune Records to establish the label’s brand identity and drive revenue through merch sales. In addition to this, I also enjoyed the opportunity to work with a number of the label’s signed artists in producing brand elements including custom wordmarks and album art, employing a wide variety of styles and approaches unique to each artist.

Building a brand around the Adventica model was a worthy challenge, as they came to me with lofty goals of entering the luxury travel market with a near-zero budget. Inspiration was drawn from classic NatGeo spreads and similar nature photography tomes which I grew up flipping through as a child, using immersive visuals and reserved type-treatments to place the viewer squarely within each destination.

UI/UX was a massive part of this project, and we placed heavy focus on constructing modular layouts throughout all generated media which serves to readily impart information to prospective clients in digestible portions, while accommodating easy changes to a product certain to change frequently within the first year of operation.
